Frequently Asked Questions

Covid-19 highlighted a key gap in the continuum of veterinary care. Primary care hospitals were scheduled weeks to months out, and emergency rooms were experiencing extended wait times. Following our counterparts in human medicine, veterinary urgent care (or pet urgent care) is the preferred solution to bridge the gap between primary and specialty/ER care.

Urgent care allows patients in pain with acute or non-life threatening diseases to be seen within 24 hours by ER- and critical care-trained veterinarians and without the extended wait and high cost of an ER. Ruby Veterinary Urgent Care is the link between your primary care veterinarian and the ER, while supporting both equally.

We're here for all those issues in the evenings and weekends.

Yes. Ruby Veterinary Urgent Care accepts walk-ins and same-day visits for urgent medical needs. We work hard to minimize wait times and prioritize pets based on severity. To save your appointment time, you can make an appointment online.

You can schedule an appointment through our online booking portal or by calling us at (470) 742-4620.

Absolutely, we welcome all walk-ins! Our team is available to see all pets, whether scheduled appointments or walk-ins, until the day’s appointment slots have filled up. It's recommended to check the website or give us a call prior to bringing your pet in to ensure appointment slots are still available. Appointment slots are opened several days prior and remain on the site until all are filled.

Walk-in patients will be seen on a first-come, first-served basis and placed into an available appointment slot if stable to wait. If your pet’s needs are so severe you think they cannot wait to be seen, this by definition is an emergency, and your pet should be taken directly to a local emergency hospital. If in doubt, someone from our team is always happy to help you triage your pet’s needs.
